“Like many artists, my creative career began with crayons and scrap paper...”
Hi, I’m Lindsay Dieterich— the artist and surface designer behind Caldwell Common.
Like many artists, my creative career began with crayons and scrap paper, but it truly took shape in the greeting card and gift industry. I started out designing cards and soon found myself immersed in illustration and art direction, working with artists and studios to bring creative products to life. Those years not only deepened my love for illustration but also sharpened my ability to recognize and apply trends, interpret creative briefs, and develop a keen eye for color.
Stepping into the role of art director and art buyer was a turning point. Not only did it expand my creative perspective, but it also gave me firsthand insight into what brands and design teams look for when choosing artwork. That experience planted the seed that one day I would build a creative business of my own.
Today, Caldwell Common is that dream realized. Through my pattern collections, I create hand-drawn, nature-inspired designs that bring warmth and artistry to textiles, home décor, and lifestyle products. And perhaps most meaningfully, I get to show my kids that their own curiosity, doodles, and crayon drawings can grow into something lasting and full of possibility.
